The Canadian immigration department sets new target and has announced and planned by the federal government to welcome more than 1.3 million newcomers into the country in the next three years - 2024.
On 14th February, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser tabled the 2022‒2024 Immigration levels plan which places out the government's outline for newcomers to assistance the Canadian economy recuperate and arouse post-pandemic growth. Due to the pandemic many jobs that were lost have been recovered, there are still hundreds of thousands of positions that need to be filled.
Since immigration books for almost all of the labour force development in Canada and it's predicted that millions of Canadians will retire by the end of the decade, that gives a "clear sign" to the government that there is "a strong economic need for increased immigration."
"The 2022–2024 Immigration levels plan aims to support in welcoming immigrants at a rate of about 1% of Canada's population." And the newcomers into the country for the next 3 years will help to boost the Canadian economy.
It stated that for the next three years, the plan is to receive the following immigrants for a total of 1.03 million in the following years as permanent residents:
• 4,31,645 permanent residents in 2022
• 4,47,055 permanent residents in 2023
• 451,000 permanent residents in 2024
This totals up to 1,329,700 permanent residents who will enter Canada.
The present newcomers into Canada is been set as goal is bigger than the previous plan for 2021–2023 which expected for 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021, 411,000 in 2022 and 421,000 in 2023 for a total of 1,233,000 new immigrants.
Since the increased targets, the government plans to address challenges with Canada's immigration system by modernizing it which will decrease application backlog and create predictable processing times.
In 2021 there was a record created by Canada welcomed more immigrants 4,05,000 than it ever had in a single year and broke the record from back in 1913.
If the new goal is met on the new plan, the country would beat the record every year from 2022 to 2024 in bringing maximum no. of newcomers to the country of Canada.
