CHANGE IN REGULATION FOR PORTUGAL GOLDEN VISA
The Portugal Government is definite to make changes to current Golden Visa regulations. The changes will mainly come into effect on property investment categories for Golden Visa specially on the larger cities such as Lisbon & Porto.
The new regulation will be operative and come into effect by 1st July 2021. There will be about 2 years of changeover period in 2021 and 2022, where the investment threshold for these cities will gradually increase.
According to the financial plan, the Portugal Government will end property investment in coastal area and metropolitan cities. For those originally approved visa, renewal of visa is permitted. Also, we expect the government to channel the investments to inner continent area, in order to develop these areas and to create more jobs.
More details will be updated once we have the law amended with new announcements on the threshold amount likely to be changed from EUR 350,000 to EUR 500,000 AND from EUR 500,000 to EUR 1,000,000. Therefore, it is advisable that every investor looks at working in lodging their family application under the Investment before the new regulation are amended by the Government of Portugal on the Golden visa program.
