New National Occupation Classification (NOC) 2021

On November 16, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has switched to the 2021 version of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system according to the government's website. The new NOC will change eligibility for some of Canada's immigration programs including Express Entry.

Enclosed the link for the previous version of the National Occupation Classification (NOC 2016)   We have enclosed this list only for your reference.

IRCC will use the new National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 system to classify jobs (occupations) for applicant selection process under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program

TEER:   Jobs are gathered into training, education, experience and responsibilities (TEER) groupings based on the type of job duties and work an applicant performs.

The different occupation types under TEER are as follows:

  • Under the Federal Skilled Worker Program there are about 347 eligible occupations that an application can choose from the NOC 2021 towards submitting an EOI profile to the Express Entry pool.
  • The cap for applications through Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is at 3,000. 
  • Applicants who receive the highest CRS scores are eligible to receive Invitation to Apply (ITA).
  • After receiving ITAs, applicants have 60 days to submit their application towards obtaining their Canadian Permanent Residence visa.

NEW NOC CODES FOR FSWP:   Immigration department has set 347 eligible occupations under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are qualified to submit Expressions of Interest application to the Immigration department.

Through the rankings of selection process an applicant’s profile will be selected from the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores and the applicant who has the required score will receive the Invitation to apply.
