EXPRESS ENTRY - CHANGE IN PROOF OF FUNDS REQUIREMENT

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has notified change in the requirements for proof of settlement funds that has come into effect from February 2017.

Settlement funds are only required for applicants depending on the program(s) you qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

It is advisable that every application needs to check and update their Express Entry profile to prove you have the required funds are met. If you do not have sufficient funds, your profile will be removed from the Express Entry pool.

You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family in Canada to meet the minimum requirements.

Your application will not be accepted in the pool under one of these programs unless your application show you have sufficient funds. The funds  you need to support your family is set by the size of your family.

As an applicant you need to show that you have enough funds to support yourself and your family to meet the program requirements of the Canadian Experience Class (this includes provincial nominees who are part of the CEC stream).

It is estimated based on the size of the applicant’s family that must include: Applicant, spouse or partner, or  your dependent children and your spouse’s dependent children. This includes your spouse or dependent children who are permanent residents or Canadian citizens.

It is also advised to keep your funds up-to-date in your profile as this can help your application while being invited.

These funds are mainly shown to prove that you will be able to look after yourself towards the cost of living for your family in Canada.
